9 WORKERS KILLED IN CROSSING CRASH.

Monroe, Mich., Nov. 18 (AP) -- Nine railroad section workers were killed and three others injured seriously today when a speeding New York Central passenger train plowed into a truck carrying the men to work.
The train, en route to Detroit from St. Louis, rammed the truck at a crossing a mile south of the village of Newport, in northeast Monroe County. This is about 20 miles south of Detroit.
Eight of the nine dead were positively identified. They were:
PETER PATTERFRITZ, 32.
ROYAL GREEN, 41.
HERBERT CHURCHILL, 52.
CARL WOOLFIELD, 40.
EUGENE DUTY, 49.
JOE ELLISON, 27.
EARL SWEET, 31.
JOE McDANIEL.
ROBERT CLINE was believed to be the ninth victim.
All were from Monroe but WOOLFIELD, whose home was in nearby Petersburg.
Survivors of the crash were J.C. MARTIN, 26, the truck driver; CLAYTON BRYANT, 50 and THOMAS LOOPE, 33, all of Monroe.
The victims were members of a New York Central section crew en route from Monroe to Newport where they were to pick up their foreman, HERBERT LIFORD, before starting the day's work.
