TWO WORKERS FOUND DEAD IN DETROIT BLAST.

FEAR FOR LIVES OF 28 OTHERS NOW IN HOSPITALS.

MORE THAN 100 INJURED.

Detroit, April 24. -- With two known dead and the death of some 28 others in two hospitals expected the black and smoldering ruins of a new five story building of the Briggs Manufacturing company. Saturday night hold the solution of whether others met death in a fire kindled by a series of explosions which destroyed the structure early Saturday.

Two Known Dead.
JAMES GILLAN, and HARRY MASON, were the known dead, both were negroes.
Estimates of the number of dead ran as high as 100 although J. W. CARTER, head of the service department announced late Saturday that a check of the employment records accounted for all the 200 men employed in the burned building.
THOMAS J. O'GRADY, deputy superintendent of police, said it probably would be several days before search could be made for any bodies that may remain in the ruins.

Injured More Than 100.
The total number of injured was estimated unofficially at 100 or more.
One fireman was temporarily overcome.
The fire originated on the third floor of the building after the first blast in the painting department. Workers in other parts of the building filed out calmly when a fire alarm sounded.
JOHN FRENCH, president of the company, estimated the loss at $3,000,000.
The cause of the explosions had not been determined.
