Springfield, MA Collins Block Fatal Fire, Nov 1900

Old Man Meets Death in a Fire.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Nov. 28.---Fire broke out in the Collins Block, in North Wilbraham, to-night about 10 o'clock, and completely destroyed the building. The town has no fire apparatus, and the feeble attempt of the citizens to extinguish the blaze proved unavailing. Peter Labonte, and old man who lived in the attic, was suffocated. The loss is estimated at $5,000, partially insured.
