Worcester, MA area Nashua River Flood, Mar 1896

Nashua Over Its Banks.

WORCESTER, Mass., March 2.---The most serious damage in this vicinity is on the Nashua river. The Pine Hill reservoir at Jefferson, in the town of Holden, partially gave way, causing heavy damage to the Eagle Lake mills. The water rushing down the Quinepoxet river flooded E. A. Cowee's grain mill and house at West Boylston and the mills at Sawyer's Mill village. The intervals all along the river to a point below Clinton are covered with water, and fear is expressed for the safety of bridges. There has not been such a flood in the Nashua river for years.

The Fitchburg Sentinel, Fitchburg, MA 2 Mar 1896
