Mother, Child Die In Fire

Walpole*, Mass - January 3

"My God, the house is on fire. I'm trapped."

A few moments after shouting that frantic alarm into the telephone, Mrs. Doris DANEHEY, 30, and her only child, James 4 months, perished Wednesday night in their three room bungalow.

Fire Chief Aaron Hill said Mrs. DANEHEY apparently passed up her only chance to escape by making a valiant attempt to save the baby.

*Walpole is a town in Norfolk County, Massachusetts, United States. It is located about 13 miles (21 km) south of Downtown Boston and 23.5 miles (37.8 km) north of Providence, Rhode Island.
