City Point, MA Drownings, Jun 1896
FOUND WATERY GRAVES.
Boston, June 30.---One of the saddest accidents in the history of the Boston water front occurred at Castle island, off City Point, Monday afternoon. At about 2:30 o'clock 75 children were on a rickety, unsafe gang plank and float at the landing south of the bridge from the point to the island when the float overturned, the flimsy guard rail of the gang plank split and 30 or more of the children were tumbled into at least four feet of water. Four boys were drowned, four children were picked up unconscious and later revived, and the others, as far as known, were saved.
Evening Bulletin, Decatur, IL 30 Jun 1896
