Baltimore, MD Boat Accident and Drowning, Feb 1909

DROWNED FROM SPEEDBOAT.

Two Baltimoreans Lose Lives as Fast-Driven Vessel Keels Over.

Baltimore, Feb. 19.---William Bauers and Christopher Myers, of this city, were drowned in the Spring Gardens section of Baltimore harbor today while trying a new speed launch. William V. Miller narrowly escaped a like fate.

While the boat was running at full speed, Meyers, who was steering, attempted to turn it around. The momentum capsized the craft and threw the occupants some distance. Bauers and Meyers sank before aid could reach them. Miller managed to reach the launch, from which he was taken off.
