Baltimore, MD Famous Hotel Fire, May 1912

FIRE CAUSES DAMAGE TO THE EUTAW HOUSE.

Baltimore, May 25. -- The Eutaw House, which was to have served as headquarters for Oscar W. Underwood during the national convention here next month, was badly damaged by fire tonight. An explosion of unknown origin in the basement started the fire, which threatened to consume the building, the oldest hotel in Baltimore, and which blazed fiercely for two hours. The guests and employees, some of whom had to take to the fire escapes, all escaped. Practically the whole building had been reserved for the Underwood supporters.
