A FATAL EXCURSION.

SEVERAL PEOPLE LOSE THEIR LIVES IN A COLLISION ON CHESAPEAKE BAY.

Baltimore, July 28. -- The steamer Virginia of the Old Bay Line, on route from Baltimore for New York, collided this evening off Fort Cahill, five miles from here, with the steamer Louise on her way to Baltimore from Tolchester Beach, on Chesapeake Bay, with 1,500 excursionists. It is said the collision resulted from the efforts of the steamers to avoid a schooner in tow of a tug boat. The weather was thick and rainy. The Virginia struck the Louise on the starboard side aft the wheel, cutting away the outer woodwork and crashing into the saloon. The Virginia's stern was badly twisted and her bow stove. Many excursionists are missing. Three bodies had been recovered up to 11 o'clock. It is supposed others have been lost. The steamers came to Baltimore under their own steam.

THE DEAD ARE FOURTEEN.

SEVEN MORE BODIES OF THE LOUISE - VIRGINIA COLLISION VICTIMS RECOVERED.

Baltimore, July 31. -- All yesterday a crowd of busy searchers with grappling irons and hooks were fishing the waters in the vicinity of Monday night's disaster on the river for bodies of victims. Several bodies were recovered.
They were:
MRS. CATHERINE KEYSER.
CHARLES GRENZER, 5 years old.
DANIEL KOPP, 11 years old.
MRS. MAHALIA MARSHALL.
HARRY KOPP.
LENA BEETZ.
LILLIE GRIGGS.
ANNIE RUTH.
MRS. SOPHIA FABER.
MRS. LIZZIE GRENZER.
WILLIE BEIGAL.
The bodies were in a badly decomposed condition, and presented a sickening appearance. The flesh of the faces and other parts of the bodies was eaten away by crabs. They were recognized mainly by their clothes and jewelry.
It now seems that the total number of persons who lost their lives by the disaster is fourteen. In addition to these known or supposed to have been drowned and killed, it is probable that death will soon claim two other victims, who are now lying at the point of death, all hope having been abandoned.
These will swell the list of fatalities to sixteen.
