THREE CAR CRASH KILLS FIVE IN MARYLAND.
Accokeek, Md. (UPI) -- Five persons were killed and five others injured in a three-car crash near this rural community about 15 miles south of Washington, D.C., Sunday night.
State police said the accident occurred when a car tried to pass another auto but slammed into it and was propelled head-on into the third car on rain-slick Indian Head Highway.
The dead were identified as GREGORY SLAVIN, 57, of Accokeek, and PATRICIA ANN SMITH, 21, NATHANIEL F. JACKSON, 37, ANN MAE SANDERS, 33, and LISA EVANS, 38, all of Washington, D.C.
