Pottsville, ME Eastern Steel Co Accident, Sept 1907

MAN'S FOOT PINCHED OFF.

Pottsville, Sept. 16.---Jacob Root, an employe[sic] of the plant of the Eastern Steel company, today was caught and drawn between rollers at the straightening machine, and his left foot was ground to a pulp. His death was only averted by strenuous measures of fellow workmen, who, by brute force, kept him from being drawn further than his ankle until the machinery could be stopped. The foot was actually pinched off.
