York Beach, ME House Fire, Mar 1944

7 CHILDREN IN ONE FAMILY DIE IN FIRE.
York Beach, Me. (AP) -- Fire killed the seven children of a Portsmouth navy yard worker and razed their home Monday night while their mother lay ill in a York hospital.
All seven bodies were recovered late Monday from the blackened ruins of MR. and MRS. RAYMOND ROKEY'S cottage home on Long Beach boulevard.
An adjoining unoccupied cottage also was destroyed.
An eight child of the ROKEYS was killed by an automobile near the home last October.
The victims were:
EVELYN ROKEY, 13.
ALICE ROKEY, 11.
JOHN ROKEY, 9.
BEATRICE ROKEY, 7.
FRANKLIN ROKEY, 5.
MARY ROKEY, 3.
DOROTHY ROKEY, 11 months.
