BIG FIRE IN LOUISIANA TOWN.
Citizens Lack Water to Fight Flames---Thirty Buildings Destroyed.
WELCH, La., March 27.---Almost all of the business section of this town was wiped out by fire early to-day. Thirty buildings were destroyed, entailing a loss of $200,000, with little insurance.
The fire started in the Signal Hotel and spread quickly to adjacent frame buildings. The town is without waterworks, and the efforts of citizens to check the flames proved futile. Among the buildings destroyed were the Signal Hotel, Eureka Hotel, and the Post Office.
