New Orleans, LA College Fire, Dec 1891
BIG BLAZE AT NEW ORLEANS.
New Orleans, Dec. 1. -- A disastrous fire occurred here during the morning, destroying the main building, a frame structure used as a library and several other buildings belonging to the Straight university for colored people.
The loss is $300,000; insurance not yet known.
The buildings were owned by the American Missionary association, of New York.
