20 Hurt In Train Wreck.

Spreading Rails Causes Accident Near Paducah, Ky.

Paducah, Ky., Dec 1.-More than a score of the passengers of an Illinois Central passenger train were injured, several perhaps fatally, when spreading rails threw it into a ditch 28 miles east of here late this afternoon. One life was taken by the same train a short time before the accident when SIMON STEVENS, mine boss at Central City, Ky., threw himself before the train as it passed the town.

When rounding a curve at a 50-mile clip the rail spread. The nine coaches toppled into the ditch. Relief and wrecking trains were from here, but at midnight neither had returned. The seriously injured will be brought to local hospitals.

Among those injured are: Engineer HNRY FRAILY, Louisville, badly crushed under his engine; Fireman LUDLOW, internal hurts; CLARENCE PREW, Shreveport, La., leg broken; L.A. KUHR, Cincinnati, left side and back crushed; MRS. HUGH FAULKNER, Kuttawa, N.Y., side crushed and ribs broken; L.M. WILSON, Columbus, Ohio, crushed and cut about head; W.W. HILLS, Chicago, head cut and bruised, and JESSE LAGORE, Paducah, Ky., leg broken and internal injuries.

Many of those less seriously hurt are residents of Western Kentucky.
