Saratoga, KY Tornado, May 1893

Kentucky Cyclone.

FULTON, Ky., May 8.---From J. D. Cantley, who arrived here to-day from Saratoga, meager particular are learned of a disastrous cyclone that swept over the section of country northwest of here Saturday night between 8 and 0 o'clock. Forest trees in a swath three miles wide have been twisted off and piled upon on another six and eight deep, making the land over which the storm swept almost impassable. Houses and barns are scattered in all directions and bedding of every description is dangling from the tops of trees. As there is not telegraph communication between this point and Saratoga, which is fourteen miles distant, it is impossible to learn anything regarding the causalities, but it is more than likely considerable destruction of life resulted. This is the second visitation of the kind at that village. The first occurred last year, one month earlier.
