Henderson, KY Auto Plunges Into Creek, Apr 1960

CAR PLUNGES IN CREEK; FIVE DIE.
Henderson, Ky., (AP) -- A car driven by a youth without an operator's license rounded a curve and plunged off a back road into a swollen creek Sunday night, killing the youth's brother and sister and three cousins.
The five youngsters, ranging in age from 10 to 16, drowned in Canoe Creek, which crosses a back road near this Ohio River town in western Kentucky.
State police said WALKER told them he was driving on the back road because he had no license.
The driver, 16-year-old CHARLES WALKER, escaped through a window. He was the only survivor.
The victims:
NORMA WALKER, 13.
RONALD WALKER, 10, children of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. Walker and the driver's brother and sister.
ELIZABETH POWELL, 16.
CHARLES POWELL, 15.
KENNETH POWELL, 10, children of Mr. and Mrs. George L. Powell.
