SEVEN TEENS KILLED IN HEAD-ON CRASH.

Cadiz, Ky. (AP) -- Seven teen-age friends squeezed into a compact car were killed in a head-on collision, plunging this small town into mourning.
"No community this size can take seven at one time," David Goodcase, administrator of Trigg County Hospital, said Wednesday as the hospital filled with friends and relatives, and boys and girls sat in clusters and wept.
The boys, students at Trigg County High School, were returning from their dinner break to their part-time jobs at a company that makes animal-call gadgets for hunters.
None of the boys was wearing a seatbelt when their car crossed the center line and collided with a four-wheel-drive vehicle outside of this town of 1,600.
State police said there was no indication that alcohol, speeding or weather were factors. Police said the driver, 17-year-old STEVEN WALLACE, apparently lost control and was turning back into his lane when the accident occurred.
"They were all good kids, good students, obvioiusly responsible students holding down part-time jobs to make a little extra money," Sheriff Randy Clark said. "Some were athletes, some I had on my Little League baseball team."
Administrators planned a half day today for the 570 students at the high school. Final exams and classes were canceled so students could talk to counselors.
The driver of the other car suffered minor injuries. Police said he was wearing a seatbelt.
Killed in addition to WALLACE were:
DAVID LAWRENCE and his cousin JESSIE LAWRENCE, both 16.
JOEY ROGERS, 17.
PATRICK PERRY, 15.
DALE GARNER, 16.
JEREMIE GORDON, 16.
All were from Cadiz except ROGERS, who was from nearby Gracey.
