Find Body of Man Drowned in Flood Water

Winfield (AP)-A township road maintenance crew today found the body of a drowned man a short distance north of Winfield on U.S. 77.

The victim was identified from papers in his billfold as DICK STEVENS, 52, of Wichita.

The highway has been closed by flood waters of the Walnut River for two days. Saturday, a pickup truck with only the cab showing was seen in the water but it was believed the occupant waded out.

Stevens had been driving a 1959 Ford Pickup.

The body was found about a quarter of a mile from the stalled truck.
