A TORNADO IN SCANDIA, KAS.

The Town Was Struck by a Storm, but the Details Are Not Known.

TOPEKA, June 6.---A tornado struck the town of Scandia, Republic county, last night. The telegraph and telephone wires are down and the Rock Island offices here have received not definite news of the storm.

GENEVA, Neb. June 5.----A tornado, which passed near Geneva late this afternoon, caused two deaths, dangerously injured two persons and destroyed several thousands of dollars worth of property. The farmhouse of John H. Shievely was struck and demolished. Mr. Shievely's 4 year old daughter and a young woman named Smith, employed in the family, were killed.

Geneva, Neb., is in Fillmore county, Nebraska, about forty miles due north of Scandia, Kas. Telegraph and telephone wires are down east of Scandia. Scandia is a town of about 800 on the Republican river.
