Iowa Twister Leaves Path of Dead and Dying

Seven Dead and Twelve Hurt, Some Seriously, When Tornado Sweeps Over Northwestern Iowa-Two Killed at Sanborn and Property Damage Estimated at $150,000 Results.

Wind Hurls Baby From Father's Hand Against Side of Farmhouse. Five Members of One Family Are Injured.

Sioux City, Ia., June 6.-The tornado which swept across Northwestern Iowa last night killed seven and injured twelve, some seriously, according to reports received today in Sioux City.
The known dead are:
P.W. YETUMA, Sanborn.
PATRICK DOUGHERTY, Sanborn.
---- MCNUTT, child, Archer.
---- BISLAND, child, Archer.
HOWARD BILLS, Sanborn.
WM. MCDANIELS, Marcus.
The generally injured: M. G. Finch, Sanborn, seriously; Mrs. G.W. Bonner, Sanborn, seriously; Edward Dykstrahuis, 3 years, near Hospers; Mrs. Harry Hosgtherp, near Hospers.

The tornado hit Sanborn about 5:30 last evening, leaving ruin and death in its wake.

Child Dashed to Death.

Near Arthur the storm tore the child of John Bisland from its father’s arms and dashed it to death against the side of the farmhouse.

Near Hospers the storm struck the farm home of James Allen and five members of the family were injured and the buildings wrecked.

Two Dead at Sanborn.

Sanborn, Ia., June 6.-Two are dead, one missing and two injured in a cyclone which struck this vicinity last night. Property damage is estimated at $150,000, practically all of the east end of this town having been leveled by the wind.

Two elevators in the city water tower, the electric light plant and a lumber yard were swept away by the storm. The fact that there were fatalities did not develop until today, when the bodies of Mrs. Fink and Yetuma, a lad of 16, were found at their ruined homes.

Calls For Assistance.

Mason City, Ia., June 6.-Calls for assistance at Sanborn, Ia., stricken by last night's storm, were received here today. A wrecking train was sent west to assist in repairing damage and all available wire repair men in town were taken along.
