WRECK VICTIMS LAID TO REST

FUNERALS HELD YESTERDAY

Sad and Impressive Culmination of Wednesday's Terrible Accident --- Seven of Dead Identified.

The funeral of engineer S. D. MARCHRES was held from the house on Sixth street yesterday afternoon at 2:30 and a large crowd was present to pay their respects to the departed. A very large number of Masons marched from their hall to the house and the G. A. R. post was also well represented, while every railroad man in town who could possibly get away from duty was there. The services were conducted by Rev. J. E. Groendyke. They were brief -- but in them were embodied kind words for the dead, and consolation for the living. At the cemetery the Masons conducted a ritualistic service. Music was furnished by a choir composed of Mrs. L. A. Blezek, Mrs. S.E. Carrell, Dr. M. L. Hoover and Clarence Boblett. The pall bearers were Capt. A. D. Haskins, W. B. Brown, Chas. Lewis, Henry Clark, J. J. Brown, Allen Breed, W. B. Robinson and James Wimmer.

Engineer F. M. Braman's funeral was held from the home on Sixth street at 4:30, conducted by Rev. W. H. Bird, pastor of the Baptist church. He was assisted by the Methodist minister, Rev. Collins, who offered prayer. Rev. Bird preached a sermon befitting the occasion in which the among other things he referred most feelingly to the uncertainties of life. This funeral was also largely attended the A. O. U. W. lodge being present in a body and officiating at the grave. The choir furnishing the music was composed of Mrs. W. W. Miller, Mrs. McPherson of Boone, E. F. Larson and E. F. Edmundson. The six pall bearers were all engineers, namely, John Runyon, Geo. Chapman, Jake Brown, Otto Christensen, Henry Clark and Chas. Brown.

The Dead Identified.

Supt. A. J. Earling and the Milwaukee claim agent together with S. H. Wadsworth, the time keeper and three other men who were only slightly injured in Wednesday's wreck, came to Perry Friday to identify if possible the nine dead men at Phillips' undertaking rooms. After viewing the men in the coffins very closely the time keeper and the three laborers who had worked with the gang, agreed upon the names of seven of them, but were not able to give any particulars about them.
The names are:
MICHAEL FLYNN.
ED. FITZ GIBBONS.
L. BINGHAM.
JOHN RICHARDSON.
MICHAEL DOYLE.
JOHN ALLEN.
PAT SULLIVAN.

Supt. Earling ordered that a lot be secured in the cemetery, that the bodies be taken there in a hearses and that the city ministers be procured to give them a Christian burial:

Services will be held today at the cemetery at 10:30. There will be no funeral procession. The nine bodies will be taken from the undertaking rooms by the two hearses at different times. Four of them will be interred in the Catholic cemetery and five in the city cemetery. Father Cleary will conduct the services of the former and the different ministers of the city will officiate at the latter. A choir has been arranged and a short service will be held at each grave.
