Cyclone Near Avoca
A cyclone passed three miles east of Avoca at 6 o'clock Sunday evening going in a southerly direction. At Avoca two houses in the outskirts of the town were demolished.

Omaha, May 1.--Severe storms caused large damage yesterday throughout Nebraska and Iowa. A cyclone passed twenty miles south of Atlantic, Ia., last night and destroyed two houses in Avoca.....
The storm also struck Oakland, four miles south of Avoca. Many houses and barns were blown down, stock was killed. Between Avoca and Oakland telegraph and telephone poles were prostrated, and communication cut off for several house. Trees three inches in diameter were either twisted off or torn up by the roots. The wind was accompanied by rain. Avoca is a station on the Rock Island, thirty miles east of Council Bluffs.
