FLOOD AT RED OAK. IA.

Small Stream Rises Twenty-five Feet Above Ordinary Level.

RED OAK, Ia., June 7.----Three and three-quarters inches of rain fell here this morning. A small stream that runs through the southern part of the city rose in a few minutes to twenty-five feet above its ordinary level. Property valued at thousands of dollars was destroyed. One lumber yard was almost entirely washed away, while a lime shed containing hundreds of barrels of lime was slacked and completely destroyed. The electric light plant was flooded and had to be closed down. Two bridges spanning the stream were carried away and half a dozen others were rendered impassable.
