Greene, IA Storm and Lightning, Jul 1904

On Sunday afternoon during the storm the barn on Heye Wessel's farm north of town was struck by lightning and burned. This is on the farm known as the old Madigan place in Jackson township, now occupied by Charley Fuller as tenant. The barn was an old one about thirty feet square and not very valuable. Mr. Fuller, assisted by Frank Lewis succeeded in getting his stock and machinery out of the barn before it burned, and his only loss was between one and two tons of hay in the loft. Frank Lewis was overcome with the heat during the work and a doctor was immediately called. His condition is not serious.

The Iowa Recorder, Greene, IA 6 July 1904
