Tornado Strikes Denison, Ia., and Does Damage to the Extent of $15,000--- No One Hurt.

DENISON VISITED BY A TORNADO.

Damage to Houses, Barns, and Windmills Estimated at $15,000.

DENISON, Ia., June 18.----About 3 a. m. Monday Denison and vicinity were visited by a tornado which did damage estimated at $15,000 to houses, barns, and windmills. There is scarcely a yard in Denison that is not strewn with trees and branches. Several squares of tin roof on Goldheim's store buildings were rolled up and deposited in the street, awnings blown away and window glass broken. No one hurt.

A barn belonging to Squire Bond, just past of town, was moved and three cows killed. Dr. Mueller's horse was killed by lightning.

The storm was worse about eight miles west, in Paradise township, near Kinwood. The house of John Rose was demolished and Mrs. Rose has died from injuries received. Mr. Rose had his shoulder dislocated. Their baby was carried some distance from the house but was found wrapped in a quilt unharmed. The large barn of Joseph Duncan was wrecked. August Eggers also lost a barn and many outbuildings. McWilliams school house, three miles east of Denison, was completely wrecked.
