Iowa Falls, IA Train Collision, Apr 1912
2 PERSONS KILLED IN IOWA COLLISION
Iowa Falls, April 22 -- Two men were killed and another probably fatally injured when the second section of an Illinois Central stock train crashed into the rear end of the first section here late Sunday afternoon. The dead:
FRED CARSTENSEN, Oto, Iowa.
FRED BLISS, Washea, Iowa.
NELS JUERGENSON of Anthen, Iowa, suffered a broken leg and was internally injured.
The three victims were riding in the way car of the first section of the train with eleven other stockmen. The men saw the other train approach and the majority escaped by jumping.
The engine crew also escaped by jumping.
More that a dozen stock cars were demolished and 300 hogs were killed.
