AN IOWA COLLEGE DESTROYED.

THE WESTERN COLLEGE AT TOLEDO BURNED TO THE GROUND.

Cedar Rapids, Ia., Dec. 27. -- At 1:45 o'clock yesterday morning fire broke out in the main building of the Western college, at Toledo, and as a high wind from the northwest was prevailing at the time the entire structure was consumed before the flames could be checked. All that was aved was a part of the library and the contents of the treasury. The loss is $150,000, with insurance of $22,500 only. The citizens of Toledo held a meeting yesterday afternoon, and took steps for the immediate erection of a new building. The school will go on as usual.
