One Killed, One Hurt In Wreck On Big Four
Urbana (Ill.) Conductor Fatally Injured in Violent Crash Near Crawfordsville.

Crawfordsville, Ind., Jan. 13. – E. B. TOBIAS of Urbana, Ill., was killed and S. H. O’BRIEN, also of Urbana, was seriously injured in a freight wreck on the Big Four, three miles west of this city today.
TOBIAS was a freight conductor and was seated in his caboose when another train, running only a few minutes behind crashed through the car. O’BRIEN was in the caboose with TOBIAS, but was thrown clear of the wreckage and suffered a badly sprained back.
Eight Cars Splintered.
The engine of the rear train was derailed and tipped on its side at the edge of an embankment. The engine crew escaped uninjured.
Eight loaded freight cars were reduced to kindling wood, and several others which remained on the track were badly damaged. The wreck was not cleared up until late tonight.
