(Special to the News)

Angola, Ind., Mar. 29.-One man was killed and five others were injured as the result of a terrible tornado that swept over parts of Steuben county at 5 o’clock last evening.

WILLIAM DOUDT, 60 years old, was killed when he was buried beneath the debris of his barn which was totally demolished. The list of injured follows:

The tornado traveled along a heading from Orland toward East Gilead, Mich., laying waste all before it. Many parts of Steuben County were entirely cut off from the outside world today, as all telephone and telegraph wires are down.

The damage done in and around Orland will total several thousands of dollars. A cement clock implement store belonging to ED HACKETT in Orland was entirely destroyed as was a fine dwelling belonging to JOSEPH HACKETT. Many houses were unroofed. A steel roof was blown off the Frick public library at Orland and set down in the middle of the street. Even greater damage was done at East Gilead that at Orland.

All buildings on the farm of GUY FRIEND were wrecked. LOUIS CRIPE was pinioned beneath the debris on this farm and seriously hurt.
