Medora, IN Freight Train Splits Switch and Wrecks, June 1921

TRAINMEN KILLED

FAST FREIGHT TRAIN SPLITS SWITCH IN INDIANA AND IS WRECKED.

Seymour, Ind., June 9 -- Three trainmen were killed and two others scalded by escaping steam when a fast Baltimore and Ohio freight train was wrecked at Medora, west of here. All of the trainmen lived in Seymour. The dead are:
Engineer HUGO FEISLER.
Fireman TOM HILL.
Brakeman HARRY McCULLEY.

Engineer MEDFORD DOWNING and Fireman WILLIAM HARDING, on the second engine of the train, were scalded and are in a serious condition.
The train, which was the fastest freight between Cincinnati and St. Louis, split a switch at Medora, and 17 cars of merchandise, including five cars of livestock, were piled up in the wreckage.
