A FATAL WRECK.

An Engineer Killed and Several Passengers Slightly Injured.

LAWRENCEBERG, Aug. 20 –The Lawrenceburg and Aurora Big Four accommodation train, consisting of an engine and three passenger coaches, was wrecked at East Lawrenceburg at 10:30 yesterday morning. The train left the track and rolled down a twenty-foot embankment. Engineer HARRY BECKER, aged 36, of Indianapolis, had charge of the engine, and, in jumping, was caught by the water tank and killed. The other trainmen jumped and escaped unhurt. Several passengers were slightly bruised. It is impossible to say whose fault caused the wreck.

Wrong and the Train Jumps the Track.

The Engineer is Instantly Killed and Five Passengers are Injured.

LOUISVILLE, KY., Aug 20—News was received here of a bad wreck on the Big Four, near Lawrenceburg, Ind., this morning. The engineer was killed. The accident occurred at 6 o’clock this morning. The operator threw the switch wrong and the engine and six cars were ditched. Five passengers were injured. The train was on its way from St. Louis to Cincinnati. No names were given.
