TRIED TO BURN PLANT

INCENDIARY FIRE AT HARTFORD CITY GLASS FACTORY.

Saturated the Tar Roof With Oil and Applied a Match---Feeling Is Intense.

HARTFORD CITY, Ind., March 10.----An attempt was made at midnight to burn the American Window Glass company's No.3 plant on the south side here. The tar roof over the cutting department had been saturated with oil and the match found which had been applied. The blaze was discovered by Jacob Snyder, an employe[sic] in time to prevent serious loss and possible destruction of the plant. There is intense feeling against the company for the dismissal of the men and the introduction of the blowing machine among the blowers. The No.3 is the trust's largest western plant and will be equipped with blowing machines this summer.
