Fulton Co. Man Is Drowned In Effort To Rescue Girls

Logansport, Ind., Aug. 27 (AP)-Arthur Lambert, 44, was drowned in Fletcher Lake, north of here, today while aiding in the rescue of his daughter and another girl.

The girls, Josephine Mutchler, 18, and Delia Lambert, 18, stepped into deep water while wading in the lake. Two man in a boat went to their rescue, while Lambert waded into the water with his clothes on. In the excitement, the fact that Lambert was missing was unnoticed for several minutes.

Boy Scouts camping nearby recovered the body about twenty minutes after Lambert’s absence was discovered but efforts at resuscitation failed.

The Lambert and Mutchler families had gathered at the lake for a celebration of five birthdays in the two families. The body was taken to the Lambert home near Kewanna.
