TWO AIR FORCE OFFICERS KILLED IN PLANE CRASH.
Kokomo, Ind. (UPI) -- Two U. S. Air Force officers including a combat pilot during the Korean war, were killed Wednesday afternoon in the crash of a private airplane five miles southwest of here.
The victims were identified as MAJOR CARL L. STONEKING, 41, and CAPT. FRANK E. SCHAALL, 32, both stationed at Bunker Hill Air Force Base near here.
Authorities said STONEKING was instructing SCHAAL in the use of the Cessna 150 aircraft at a low altitude when it suddenly nosed over into a cornfield.
STONEKING, a native of BIgrun Forest, Va., and a veteran of 22 years in the Air Force, flew 28 combat missions during the Korean conflict. He is survived by the widow and two children.
SCHAAL, a native of Totosi, Wis., attended Clinton Junior College in Iowa and Indiana University before joining the Air Force. He is survived by the widow and a son.
