Heavy Damage in Litchfield Fire

(By the Associated Press.)
Litchfield, Ill., Oct. 31.-Residents using buckets and hand pumps failed to get under control the fire this started at 2 o’clock this morning destroyed the Masonic building, damaged the Daily Union building and threatened the Litchfield Hotel. The fire was not brought under control until shortly before noon. The Masonic building was used as the Litchfield High School. All the equipment of the high school was destroyed.

The fire started from defective electric wiring, authorities said.
