SEVERAL DISASTROUS STORMS REPORTED IN THE WEST.

ONE AT LINCOLN, ILL.

NO LOSS OF LIFE BUT STORM LEFT PATH FOR TEN MILES -- SEVERAL SIMILAR STORMS REPORTED IN IOWA AND NEBRASKA.

Lincoln, Ill., May 31. -- A tornado passed over this city at four o'clock this morning. It traveled from the southwest to the northeast, covering a territory 150 yards wide and ten miles in length. The storm cloud was high when passing this city. It dropped at Lawndale, a small town ten miles north. The Chicago & Alton depot was lifted from its foundation and carried several yards. Several store buildings were unroofed and many residences were badly damaged. Large forest trees were torn up by the roots. No deaths have been reported.

Sioux City, Iowa, May 31. -- A small tornado struck last night near Kingsley, in Plymouth county. Buildings on farms of WILLIAM ADAMS, W. A. STEVENS and B. J. KELLNER were destroyed. No loss of life is reported, though some stock was killed. A storm is reported to have done some damage near Jefferson and injured a few persons.

Ponca, Neb., May 31. -- Three tornadoes passed through this vicinity yesterday evening. None of them covered a wide area and only one house was destroyed, that of GEORGE WALLSECK. Considerable livestock was killed.

Malverne, Iowa, May 31. -- A tornado passed over the northwest part of Mills county last night, doing considerable damage to farm property. The house of JOHN ROHRBURG, a farmer living two miles north of Minola, was destroyed. His daughter, aged eleven, was killed. One boy had a leg broken and the balance of the family were injured. Buildings on the farms of FRED HANSON and MICHAEL GASPERS were destroyed. Telegraph wires were torn down and the poles and cross arms were scattered over the adjoining fields.
