Homewood, IL Train Wreck, Oct 1891

The Train Broke in Two.
At 7:40 yesterday morning a wreck occurred at Homewood, Ill., a little station on the Illinois Central Railroad, near Champaign. A wild train, north bound, broke in three places. The middle string crashed into the head end, completely demolishing six freight cars and piling many others on the tracks. The The [sic] tracks are double at this point, and so scattered were the cars that both tracks were blocked. It was reported that a man was killed, but the story was without foundation.
