DANVILLE (ILL.) MILL FIRE ATTRIBUTED TO INCENDIARY

DANVILLE, Ill., May 27.-Fire of an undoubtedly incendiary origin did damage of $10,000 to the planing mill and dry kilns of the Lumm Lumber and Milling Company here early today. A heavy fall of rain at the time of the blaze greatly assisted the fire department in keeping the flames confined to the mill and kilns.

Eugene Lumm, surviving partner of the concern told the police that the place closed at noon Saturday for a half holiday and he believed the fires in the engine room where the blaze started, had been drawn at the time and that there was no fire on the premises. The engineer of the Herendeen bakery, a half block east, said that shortly before the fire was discovered two men came out of the alley from the direction of the planing mill, climbed into an automobile and started south at a high rate of speed.
