The Cyclone at Golconda, Ill.

Golconda, Ill., March 31.--The cyclone of the 27th struck this place from the southwest, being accompanied by rain and hail in floods and volleys. The two-story farmhouse of JONATHAN ROBINET was riven to pieces and its inmates tossed about like playthings. All were more or less seriously injured, Mrs. ROBINET fatally. Miss LUCY ROBINET was struck by a flying timber and killed outright. GEORGE TAYLOR’S residence was torn to pieces. His wife was killed and other members of the family were seriously injured. All his outbuildings were wrecked. A German boy, name unknown, was drowned. There are rumors coming in of residences destroyed, orchards ruined, barns wrecked, fences washed away, and men, women and children killed or washed away by the rushing waters.

Further Reports From Along the Path of the Tornado

St. Louis, April 3--Reports from the tornado swept region of southern Illinois and Kentucky say that fifteen families in the Bay Bottoms, near Golconda, Ill. Were rendered homeless and most of their members injured. The storm literally swept growing wheat from the ground. Ten dwelling were utterly wrecked, amd all barns and other outhouses were destroyed. Several hundred head of cattle were scattered, and most of them are known to have been killed.
