SERIOUSLY INJURED.

Toulon, Ill, Oct. 12----While making a balloon ascension here Friday, Professor J. S. White of Fort Collins, Mich., leaped from his burning car, fifty feet above the earth, and was perhaps fatally injured, the bag inflate which the balloon had dragged upward fell upon the roof of the postoffice building, crashed through and exploded and set the mailing room on fire, and for a time the entire block was threatened. The Toulon department, which was giving an exhibition at the corn carnival, rushed to the blazing building.

When White was picked up it was ascertained that many boned were broken and internal injuries had resulted.
