FALL KILLS PIONEER FLIER.

OTTO W. BRODIE PROFESSED TO BE THE FIRST PARCEL POST AIRMAN.

Chicago, April 19. -- OTTO W. BRODIE, a professional aviator, was killed today by a fall of his machine from a height of forty-five feet at the aviation grounds on the West Side. BRODIE was head of a school of aviation and was testing a new machine. He was guiding the machine over some trees, when a branch snapped a guide wire, preventing control of the aeroplane. The aviator was caught under the engine.
BRODIE was one of the first Chicagoans to take up aviation professionally. He was 26 years old and had been a flier four years. His instruction work was so successful that he recently made plans for a factory for the manufacture of air craft.
He professed to be the first aviator to deliver parcel post packages by the air route. He carried several such packages from Cicero, a suburb of Chicago, to Argo, Ill., soon after the parcel service was installed.
