22 KILLED AND SCORES HURT IN TRAIN WRECK.
AWFUL CALAMITY OCCURS ON CHICAGO AND EASTERN ILLINOIS ROAD NEAR CHICAGO.
TRAIN CROWDED WITH MEMBERS OF CONGREGATIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOL CRASHES INTO FREIGHT.
Chicago, July 14 -- WIth a hymn on their lips twenty members of the Sunday school of the Doremus Congregational church, Thirty-first and Butler streets, went to their death at 7:30 last evening while returning from their annual picnic which had been held at Momence, Ill. Fifty others were injured. Nearly all the dead and wounded are children.
Their special train on the Chicago and Eastern Illinois plunged into a line of wild coal cars at Glenwood, and in a moment the singing went out in a shout of horror and a wild cry of pain.
