Belleville, IL Train Accident, May 1910

CHILD'S HEAD IS SEVERED

JOHN HADE, AGED 9 YEARS, KILLED BY ILLINOIS CENTRAL TRAIN.

John Hade, aged 9 years, whose father, a laborer, resides at 515 Piggott avenue, East St. Louis, was struck Sunday afternoon by an Illinois Central engine in the Illinois Central yards and was instantly killed. The body was mangled and the head severed.

It is supposed the child stepped from one track to avoid a train onto another, on which the locomotive was approaching.

The inquest was held Monday afternoon, the jury returning a verdict of accidental death.

The burial will be Tuesday afternoon from St. Adelbert's Church.
