Preston, ID Geddes House Fire, May 1913
Fire Consumes Geddes Home
The home of Bishop Hugh S. Geddes of the Second ward was entirely consumed by fire last Friday morning. The little boy had lit the fire and then went out to do the chores. Sometime afterwards, Mrs. Geddes arose and started to go into the kitchen. Throwing open the door, she was confronted by an inward rush of flames, the kitchen being almost consumed by fire and the opening of the door had made a draft wich [sic] speedily ignited all in the bedroom. Picking up one child which was in bed she had barely time to put it through the window and get out herself before the fire took possession of the bedroom. The house was entirely consumed, not a particle of clolhing [sic] or utensil being saved except a couple of pillows. We understand there was a thousand dollars worth of insurance on the building, but nothing on the contents. Word was sent Brother Geddes that evening.
Franklin County Citizen, Preston, ID 22 May 1913
