Tallapoosa, GA Lightning & Storm, Apr 1903

Electrical Display at Tallapoosa.

Tallapoosa, Ga., April 8. -- (Special.)-- This city was visited by a terrific electric storm this morning. It began about 3 o'clock and continued for more than two hours. The almost continuous play of the lightning was startling in the extreme.

The lightning struck Dr. G. Truax's house and the old Georgia Pacific hotel. A massive oak tree 30 inches in diameter was pealed from top to base. No serous damage was done to the buildings, fortunately. The inmates were shocked, more or less.

The Atlanta Constitution, Atlanta, GA 9 Apr 1903
