DALTON, GA., LOSES ITS MAIN BUSINESS BLOCK

FIRE STARTS IN A HOTEL – LOSS ESTIMATED AT $250,000

The Third Fire to Break Out in the Hotel Within the Past Thirty Days it is Stated.

Dalton, Ga., April 9. -- The main business block of this little city lies a mass of ruins today as a result of the most disastrous fire that has ever visited any town in the north portion of Georgia.

It is estimated today that the loss will reach a quarter of a million dollar, with insurance of only about $76,000.

The fire started at midnight in the Hotel Dalton on the third floor, but the exact cause probably never will be known, as the building was in flames from one end to the other within a few minutes after the first alarm was given. There was absolutely no possibility of firemen gaining entrance to the building. The fact that this is the third fire to break out in the Hotel Dalton within thirty days has given rise to much speculation. At 3:30 a. m. the fire was practically extinguished.
