FATAL RAILROAD ACCIDENT.

AN ENGINEER FATALLY INJURED AND A FIREMAN KILLED.

Chattanooga, Tenn., April 2. -- A fatal railroad accident occurred 25 miles from this city last night, about 10:30 o'clock. The south-bound passenger train on the Alabama Great Southern Road, when near Trenton, Ga., ran into a large tree that had fallen across the road. The engineer saw the obstruction, but as the train was rounding a curve he had not time to prevent the accident. The engine was thrown from the track and the engineer, MIKE FRAWLEY, of this city, was caught beneath it and terribly scalded and mangled. He was brought to the city and at a late hour this evening he was supposed to be dying. The fireman, RICHARD BROWN, leaped from the locomotive as it turned over, but was caught beneath and mashed into an unrecognizable shape, death being instantaneous. None of the passenger coaches were thrown from the track and no passengers were injured.
