One Man Killed in Dublin Wreck

Two Trains Collide in Dublin and Jeff SWIFT was Killed.

The through freight train and the night local train on the Macon, Dublin and Savannah railroad collided at the Telfair street crossing in Dublin, Ga., last night at 4:45 o’clock, killing Jeff SWIFT, flagman on the latter train. One of the engines was practically ruined. Engineer LAND, of the through freight, was injured to a slight degree. A number of box cars were smashed into kindling wood and it will be several hours before the wreckage can be cleared away and the track opened.

The cause assigned for the wreck is that the local train in shifting had run out on the main line. The conductor of the train could not flag the approaching train in time to keep it from smashing into his train.

Flagman SWIFT, who was killed, was a native of Dublin and his family lives there. None of the injuries to the two crews amounts to anything except those of Engineer LAND and his are not serious.
