Muscogee Junction, GA Train Wreck, Oct 1891

ANOTHER RAILROAD ACCIDENT.

BUT FORTUNATELY NO ONE WAS SERIOUSLY INJURED.

Quite a serious accident occurred on the Southwestern railroad, causing considerable damage. A freight train bound to Macon, when near Muscogee Junction, struck the stringer section, and discovered it on fire. The stringers were pretty well burnt through. Four cars were turned completely over, and five cars were more or less damaged. Conductor R. Jones, Flagman A. J. Tankserly and Trainhand Erwin Robertson were more or less burned, but not seriously. A working train was ordered from Fort Valley and at once proceeded to the scene of the wreck. Last night the track was nearly cleared, and trains will be running through today. There was no train out to Macon yesterday afternoon.
